Clause II
The Subject of the Association Activities

1. The subject of the Association activities is to persuade the formation of optimum conditions for the development of the Slovak telecommunication market concerning the quality and affordability of the telecommunication services to broad consumer public by development of suitable conditions for the activities of the telecommunication services providers in the Slovak Republic. The Association contributes to the formation of a suitable business environment for the development of healthy competitiveness, and it protects the common interests of its members and associated members, as well as the individual interests of its members providing it is not in contradiction with the common interests. Since the optimum conditions for the development of business activities of the Association members are based on the open competitiveness, the essential objective of the Association is to support and protect the open telecommunication market in the Slovak Republic.

2. Members of the Association, based on the fact that 1.1.2003 is the date of the opening of the telecommunication market in the Slovak Republic for competitiveness in all areas of the telecommunications (further “liberalization date” only), shall undertake any necessary activities and persuade the development of the essential fair, and equal conditions for competition in the telecommunication area.

3. To accomplish the subject of the activities, the Association shall mainly:
a) Support and protect the interests of its members, especially concerning the development and operation of the telecommunication services in the Slovak Republic,
b) Defend the common interests of its members at the negotiations with the representatives of the government, political parties and movements, trade unions, interest groups, third sector, state administration, local government, national and international institutions,
c) Monitor the compliance of the telecommunication services provisioning with the valid legislation, as well as moral principles of business, at all of the telecommunication services providers,
d) Perform the research and analysis of the issues related to the business in the telecommunication services in the competitive environment, the rules for regulation of the telecommunication services, and telecommunication legislation of the Slovak Republic, and other countries with focus on the countries of the European Union,
e) Develop professional commissions for searching and solving problems concerning the provisioning of the telecommunication services, and for cooperation with the research and scientific institutions in the Slovak Republic and abroad,
f) Develop initiative proposals for solving the issues concerning the provisioning of the telecommunication services to the state administration bodies, namely legislative and regulatory bodies, concept works on the national telecommunication policy, and development of the technical standards,
g) Participate in the work of the consulting bodies stated by the state administration and local government, namely for regulation of the telecommunications,
h) Organize transfer of know-how and information among its members,
i) Prepare seminars and consultancy for its members, provide international transfer of expertise.

4. The Association cooperates with similar foreign organizations, with the bodies of the International Telecommunication Union, and the bodies of the European Union for Telecommunications.

5. The Association cooperates with the subjects which do not provide telecommunication services, however, their activities are closely related to this area, such as technology suppliers, subjects installing networks, authors of application programs, telecommunication consultants in the telecommunications area, etc. Should these subjects be legal entities, they may become associated members of the Association.

6. The Association is based on democratic principles also considering other opinion and individual interests of its members.

7. The Association will neither develop, nor support any such activity which could be understood as violation of rules of competition and open telecommunication market.
